It's a Small World....After All !

A few Sunday nights ago, my wife and I spent a delightful 2 hours at a back yard Bar-B-Q hosted by two of our friends—where 13 of us from our church were privileged to be their guests, along with 50 others from the Cherokee Street neighborhood.

Our friends had gone door to door inviting their whole neighborhood and 63 people showed up! It was so exciting to meet new acquaintances, make new friends, recognize others from our community, and to discover that we had a network of mutual friendships with some of those present.

One guy brought a Merry-Go-Round on the back of a trailer. Abby and her new friends rode that thing the whole time we were there! The only time they took a break, was to eat a hotdog or two!

From the back of his truck, the owner played carousel music. One selection was especially significant to me. “It’s A Small World….. After All !” Quite fitting for a Small Group Block Party— don’t you think?

Anyone out there who knows the lyrics to the song and would like to comment on how they apply to our small group experiecnes ?
